JBFAA has taken the challenge to innovate a new model of enterprise with producing “Waste to Wealth" by taking up of manufacturing of a wide range of products from banana pseudostem. with the intent to work on the best solution for management of agricultural waste we have innovated three different categories of products from banana pseudostem.
Food Products
Banana stem inner core or floral stem or “keleka taana (केलेका तना )" in Hindi or popularly known as “manja in Odia (କଦଳୀ ମଞ୍ଜା)" carries high dietary fiber, good percentage of potassium, iron and other micro nutrients essential for human body and mind. It is a good source of many such nutrients which keeps you fit and maintains your body immunity to fight against different diseases. The low glycaemic index present in banana floral stem helps in regulating your blood sugar, while the presence of pottasium balances your blood pressure.
Eating banana floral stem is an age old practice in traditional Indian food system. Therefore, in order to take a ride on the traditional system of Indian foods, which are healthy tasty and unique in texture color and flavour, JBFAA has brought the original essence to the modern dinning with producing different variants of pickle, pappad, badi, jam, murabba, and juice, made out of banana floral stem. These products are high standard and helpful for maintaining a healthy diet for people of all age group.
Banana Fiber & Value Added Products
Banana fibre is natural, biodegradable and is a good replacement of plastic and fibre. Looking into the present context of environment management we are producing banana fibre and a range of value added products i.e. mat, table mat, table runner, coaster, planter, sling, ladies hand bag and different varieties of handcrafted utility items which are completely natural, organic, bio degradable , long lasting and provides you a new look with artistically designed and handcrafted by renowned artists. The products are made by the hands of traditional Odia artisans with presenting indigenous variety of artifacts and also the customers have their choice of demanding to produce the same based on their requirement and providing design portraits. The product are presented with natural Color, however can add organic color based on the demand of the customers. More so, this provides you an opportunity to select the best out of waste as a good replacement of plastic and synthetic with removing the harmful product/items from your daily life.
Agro Products
As part of zero waste management strategy we are producing two different Agro products out of the other waste such as banana leaf, scutcher, dried sheath etc generated from banana pseudostem during processing of banana fibre.
“Jeevasara” a potassium rich compost made out of banana scutcher useful for agricultural, horticultural, gardening, forestry and flori-culture and nursery raising.
“BioChar” a charcoal prepared out of dried banana leaf and other banana waste, rich in potassium and carries high carbon value recommended for acidic soil, as a soil fertility enhancer.
The waste water (SAP) generated is utilized as a base material for building construction roofing, as base material for preparation of organic colour and also as liquid fertilizer.
