M/S Jaydev Banana Farmers and Artisan Association, Banmalipur, Khorda produces the Potassium Enriched Biochar, as an organic product produced from selected banana plants waste biomass through kiln based pyrolysis process. The product is suitable for acidic soils such as Red and Lateritic soils, important metallic (iron, chromium, bauxite etc.) mine degraded land due to its highly alkaline pH (about 9.5). Along with substantial carbon content, the Potassium Enriched Biochar has sizable Potassium (K) content i.e. approximately 10 %, which helps in enhancing fertility of the soil. Overall, the biochar influences positively the productivity (improves water holding capacity, favourable nutrient retention in long run etc.). The potassium enriched biochar product produced based on CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology know-how is supporting the Waste to Wealth and emerging successful example of circular economy.
M/S Jaydev Banana Farmers and Artisan Association, Banmalipur, Khorda is spearheading the unique enterprising activities by producing vermi-compost from banana wastes and trading as Jaydev Jeevasara. The vermi-compost is produced at the controlled and monitored condition at Banmalipur, Khorda production unit. The product has well balanced carbon to nitrogen ratio (well below 30:1) and near neutral pH, which makes it ready to use in almost all types of soil. Apart from good amount of macro-nutrients, the Jeevasara also contains several micronutrients, which helps in improving soil fertility. The organic matter content of Jeevasara, provides conditioning effects on soil for its overall soil health improvement. The Jaydev Jeevasara is unique because it is produced solely from banana wastes.
